How to Use Starphere P5-PI12 in Your Formulations
Understanding Starphere P5-PI12
Starphere P5-PI12 is a functional, visually striking delivery system made of vibrant pink pearl beads that bring both excitement and efficacy to your formulas. Think of them as tiny capsules filled with Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate): the pearls are clearly visible in your product, and when the user applies it, they break with gentle pressure to release the active directly onto the skin or hair.
For the technical formulator, the beads are built on a biodegradable matrix of corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, and mannitol. This structure is engineered to remain intact in the package yet burst on application. Their medium-to-large size (850–1200 μm) provides strong visual presence, ideal for premium aesthetics in clear gels, serums, masks, and cleansers.
Formulation Tips
Usage Rate: 0.5%–3%. Start around 1% for a noticeable effect; increase for higher visual density.
When to Add: Add during the cool-down phase only (below 40°C / 104°F). Avoid heat exposure to preserve bead integrity.
Mixing: Use slow, gentle stirring to disperse evenly. Avoid high-shear tools (e.g., stick blenders) that can prematurely break the beads. A spatula or paddle mixer is ideal.
Suspension: Use a rheology modifier (e.g., carbomer, xanthan gum, or other gelling agents) to achieve sufficient viscosity so the beads remain uniformly suspended. Clear gel bases beautifully showcase the pearls.
Packaging: Due to bead size, test packaging compatibility. Wide-orifice lotion pumps, tubes, or jars are preferred over fine mist sprayers or narrow treatment pumps.
