How to Use Moisture L in Your Formulations
Understanding Moisture L
Moisture L offers a simple way to make your products look beautiful and perform better. Think of these as tiny, warm copper-colored granules packed with a skin-loving ingredient. Inside each granule is Hydrogenated Lecithin, a powerful moisturizer. When the product is rubbed onto the skin, the granules gently break and release the lecithin right where it’s needed, creating a delightful, multi-sensory experience and a visible cue that the product is working.
For the technical-minded formulator, Moisture L is an encapsulated delivery system. The outer shell, constructed from sucrose, starch, and film-forming polymers, protects the Hydrogenated Lecithin within the bulk formula. This helps maintain stability until the point of application, where mechanical friction triggers release for a targeted burst of hydration. The refined 200–500 µm particle size ensures a smooth, non-abrasive feel and enables easy suspension in gels, creams, and lotions.
Formulation Tips
The most important processing rule is timing: add Moisture L at the very end of your process. A typical usage rate is 0.5%–3% depending on the visual density you want. Start at 1% for a subtle “speckled” look and increase for a more dramatic effect.
Incorporate during the cool-down phase below 40°C (104°F). Excess heat can soften or damage the granules and compromise their controlled-release behavior. Gently fold the granules into finished emulsions or gels; avoid high-shear mixing after addition. Low-shear paddle or anchor agitation is ideal.
For thinner systems (e.g., serums or light lotions), include a suitable rheology modifier to maintain even suspension and prevent settling over time. Carbomer, Xanthan Gum, or other modern rheology modifiers work well to build a supportive network for particle suspension.
Key Formulation Benefits
- Dual-Function Performance: Delivers both a striking visual effect with warm copper granules and a functional dose of Hydrogenated Lecithin for moisturization.
- Enhanced Sensory Experience: Creates a memorable application where users see and feel the burst, signaling activity and efficacy.
- Controlled Ingredient Release: Encapsulation protects lecithin in the bulk and releases it upon rubbing for targeted, on-skin delivery.
- Versatile & Easy to Use: Simple cool-down addition works across emulsions, gels, and serums without complex processing.
- Refined Particle Size: The 200–500 µm range is visually impactful yet smooth and non-abrasive on the skin.
- Improved Hydration: Hydrogenated Lecithin supports the skin barrier and enhances softness, smoothness, and overall hydration.
