Most emulsifiers simply keep oil and water mixed. AccessTHIX BIO-EMUL does much more. Think of it as a smart, biomimetic emulsifier that builds a structure similar to the skin’s own lipid barrier. It is based on hydrogenated lecithin (derived from soy), along with palmitic acid and C12-16 alcohols, which together form a lamellar, layered network within your cream or lotion.

Instead of just surrounding oil droplets, this lamellar network traps water and oil in ordered layers that resemble the skin’s natural barrier. For formulators, this means elegant, highly stable O/W emulsions with superior moisturization, reduced transepidermal water loss (TEWL), and a refined, silky skin feel that is never tacky or greasy.

Formulation Tips

AccessTHIX BIO-EMUL functions as a primary emulsifier and texture builder in one. Use 2–3% for fluid lotions and 4–5% for richer creams. It can effectively emulsify oil phases up to about 30%.

Add AccessTHIX BIO-EMUL to the oil phase and heat to 75–80°C (167–176°F), ensuring it is fully melted. Heat the water phase to the same temperature. With mixing, slowly add the water phase into the oil phase and homogenize for a few minutes to form a stable, white emulsion. Continue gentle stirring during cool-down for a smooth, uniform texture. Add heat-sensitive actives below 40°C (104°F). For best performance, target a final pH of 5–7.
