How to Use AccessPON SMCT-90 in Your Formulations
Understanding AccessPON SMCT-90
AccessPON SMCT-90 is a mild, sulfate-free anionic surfactant that delivers rich, creamy lather and gentle yet effective cleansing for skin and hair. It is particularly well-suited to sulfate-free and sensitive-skin systems, offering excellent skin feel and low irritation potential compared to traditional sulfates. The “90” indicates a high active content, making it ideal for both liquid systems and solid-format cleansers.
INCI: Sodium Methyl Cocoyl Taurate. This taurate surfactant is derived from coconut fatty acids and taurine chemistry, providing superior mildness, good hard-water tolerance, and a cushiony foam profile. It pairs well with amphoteric and non-ionic co-surfactants to optimize foam, mildness, and viscosity.
Formulation Tips
Typical usage in finished formulations is 2–30%, depending on the system and desired feel. Use lower levels for gentle facial cleansers and higher levels for shampoos, body washes, and solid bars. Combine with amphoteric surfactants (e.g., betaines) to boost foam creaminess and mildness. For liquid systems, pre-disperse into the water phase and heat as needed to aid dissolution. Adjust viscosity with salt (as compatible), polymeric thickeners, or secondary surfactants.
SMCT-90 is water-dispersible and can be processed in the water phase. For solid bars, blend directly with other solid surfactants, emollients, and binders. Compatible across a broad pH range common to cleansers; avoid strong acids and high levels of cationic polymers that can reduce performance.
Key Formulation Benefits:
- Mild, Sulfate-Free Cleansing: Provides effective cleansing with low irritation potential for skin and scalp.
- Creamy, Dense Lather: Produces a rich, cushiony foam in both liquid and solid systems.
- Great for Sensitive Systems: Supports gentle face washes, baby care, and daily-use shampoos.
- Solid-Format Friendly: High active content is ideal for syndet and shampoo bars.
- Broad Compatibility: Works well with amphoteric and non-ionic surfactants to fine-tune foam and viscosity.
