How to Use AccessPON LES(S) in Your Formulations
Understanding AccessPON LES(S)
Think of a surfactant as the ingredient that does the actual cleaning in your shampoo or face wash. Some traditional options can feel harsh or stripping, but AccessPON LES(S) is different. It delivers rich, satisfying foam while staying very gentle on skin and eyes, making it ideal for sulfate-free, sensitive-skin, and everyday cleansers.
For formulators: AccessPON LES(S) is Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate, a mild anionic surfactant. Despite the similar name, it is not a sulfate. Its relatively large, ethoxylated structure contributes to low skin and eye irritation and helps reduce the irritation potential of other anionic surfactants in blends. It produces dense, creamy foam and is a strong choice as either a primary surfactant in gentle systems or a secondary surfactant to improve mildness and lather quality.
Formulation Tips
Usage depends on role: use 15–40% as a primary surfactant in gentle shampoos and cleansers; use 4–15% as a secondary surfactant to boost foam and reduce irritation in existing systems.
Add AccessPON LES(S) to the water phase; it is compatible with cold processing. Unlike SLES, sulfosuccinates do not build viscosity with salt (NaCl), so use polymeric or gum thickeners (e.g., acrylates copolymers, xanthan) or blend with amphoterics (e.g., Cocamidopropyl Betaine) or amine oxides for viscosity and foam synergy. Target a slightly acidic pH of about 4.5–6.5 for optimal skin compatibility and performance.
Key Formulation Benefits:
- Exceptionally Mild: Cleans effectively without stripping, suitable for sensitive skin and frequent-use formats.
- Rich, Dense Lather: Delivers a creamy, luxurious foam in shampoos, body washes, and facial cleansers.
- Sulfate-Free Friendly: Enables “sulfate-free” claims while maintaining strong cleansing performance.
- Irritation Reduction: As a co-surfactant, it lowers the irritation profile of harsher anionics like SLS/SLES.
- Cold-Process Compatible: Simplifies manufacturing and helps protect heat-sensitive actives.
- Versatile & Cost-Effective: Works across hair, face, and body formats and is economical versus many specialty mild surfactants.
