How to Use AccessPON CMT in Your Formulations
Understanding AccessPON CMT
Think of AccessPON CMT as the engine of your cleansing product, but one that runs smoothly and quietly. Its main job is to cleanse by grabbing onto both oil and water—one end of the surfactant molecule attracts dirt and oil, while the other end attracts water—so impurities can be rinsed away easily.
What makes AccessPON CMT so popular with formulators is its exceptional gentleness combined with high performance. Unlike traditional sulfates (like SLS or SLES), which can sometimes feel harsh or stripping, AccessPON CMT provides effective cleansing while being incredibly mild on skin and hair. It’s ideal for today’s sulfate-free products.
For the technical formulator, AccessPON CMT is an anionic surfactant derived from coconut fatty acids and an amino acid derivative. It produces a dense, stable foam structure consumers love and also contributes to viscosity building in formulas. It performs well across a broad pH range, providing excellent formulation flexibility.
Formulation Tips
AccessPON CMT is versatile and can be used as either the primary surfactant or a supporting secondary surfactant.
- As a secondary surfactant (2–10%): Boosts foam, increases creaminess, and improves overall mildness. Pairs well with non-ionic or amphoteric surfactants.
- As a primary surfactant (10–30%): Creates a high-foaming, gentle, sulfate-free cleansing system with a dense, luxurious lather.
To use, add AccessPON CMT to the water phase. It is water-soluble and generally easy to incorporate. Because it helps build viscosity, you may need less of your primary thickener than usual. It remains stable across a broad pH range (approximately 3–11), offering compatibility with a wide variety of formulation types.
Key Formulation Benefits
- Luxurious, Creamy Foam: Creates a dense, rich, and stable lather for a premium cleansing experience.
- Exceptionally Mild Cleansing: Effectively cleans without stripping natural oils—ideal for facial cleansers, baby products, and sensitive skin formulas.
- Sulfate-Free & Biodegradable: Meets “sulfate-free” expectations and is derived from renewable sources.
- Performs in Hard Water: Maintains great foam and cleansing in challenging water conditions.
- Formulation Versatility: Works as primary or secondary surfactant and is stable across a wide pH range (3–11).
- Viscosity Building: Contributes to final thickness, potentially reducing additional thickeners.
