Understanding AccessPON C2M
AccessPON C2M is the ingredient that makes your cleansers foam up and wash away dirt, but in a very gentle way. Think of it as a super-mild “soap” that’s perfect for products designed for sensitive skin, babies, or anyone who wants a cleanser that doesn’t feel harsh or drying. It is derived from the fatty acids in coconut oil, making it a popular choice for natural-leaning and sulfate-free formulations.
For formulators, AccessPON C2M is classified as an amphoteric surfactant (INCI: Disodium Cocoamphodiacetate). This unique charge structure makes it milder than traditional anionic surfactants and excellent at reducing irritation when combined with stronger surfactants. It boosts and stabilizes foam while improving overall mildness, acting as a “peacemaker” in mixed surfactant systems.
Formulation Tips
AccessPON C2M is very easy to work with. For most applications like shampoos and body washes, a usage rate of 3–15% is recommended.
- As a secondary surfactant (3–8%): Use alongside other surfactants to increase mildness, enhance foam density, and improve creaminess and stability.
- As a primary surfactant (8–15%): Ideal for ultra-gentle products like baby washes or sensitive-skin facial cleansers.
Simply add AccessPON C2M to your water phase at room temperature and stir until fully dissolved before introducing other ingredients. It is effective over a wide pH range (approximately 4–9) and is compatible with anionic, non-ionic, and cationic surfactants, giving you broad flexibility in building mild, high-foaming cleansing systems.
