AccessPON APG-020, or Decyl Glucoside, is a cleansing ingredient (surfactant) that helps your products foam and wash away dirt and oil—think of it as the engine of your cleanser. Unlike harsh surfactants that can leave skin feeling tight or dry, AccessPON APG-020 is renowned for its gentleness. For the chemists: Decyl Glucoside is a non-ionic surfactant. Its lack of charge contributes to excellent mildness and broad compatibility with other ingredient classes. It effectively reduces water’s surface tension so oils and soils can be lifted and rinsed away. With an HLB of about 13, it’s ideal for foaming cleansers. - As a co-surfactant: Use 2–10% to boost foam and mildness alongside other surfactants.
- Typical starting points: ~15% for a gentle facial cleanser; up to 25–30% in shampoos or body washes for more foam.
- Blending: Combines well with amphoterics (e.g., Cocamidopropyl Betaine) for creamier, denser foam and enhanced mildness.
- pH note: Alkyl glucosides are supplied at a high pH (≈11–12). Adjust final formula pH to ~4.5–6.5 (e.g., with citric or lactic acid).
