How to Use AccessMILD SLSS-30S in Your Formulations
Understanding AccessMILD SLSS-30S
If you’re making any kind of cleansing product—like a face wash, shampoo, or body wash—you need a surfactant. A surfactant’s job is to grab onto oil and dirt so they can be washed away with water. However, some common surfactants, like sulfates (SLS/SLES), can be harsh and strip the skin and hair of their natural moisture.
AccessMILD SLSS-30S is the solution. It’s a gentle yet effective cleansing ingredient, known by its INCI name Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate. Think of it as a smart cleanser: it’s powerful enough to remove grime but gentle enough to leave your skin’s protective barrier intact. It’s derived from natural sources (an amino acid and fatty acids), making it a great choice for natural and “sulfate-free” formulations.
What makes it stand out is the quality of its foam. Instead of big, airy bubbles that disappear quickly, it creates a rich, dense, and creamy lather that feels luxurious and stable. On top of that, it has conditioning properties, so after rinsing, skin and hair feel soft and smooth, not tight or stripped.
Formulation Tips
AccessMILD SLSS-30S is very easy to work with, even for beginners. It comes as a 30% liquid solution, so it’s simple to measure and pour.
You can use it as the main (primary) surfactant in your formula or combine it with other surfactants as a co-surfactant to boost foam and mildness.
- As a primary surfactant: Use between 10–20% for a robust cleansing effect in products like shampoos and body washes.
- As a co-surfactant: Use between 3–10% to improve the foam quality and gentleness of another primary surfactant, like Decyl Glucoside or Cocamidopropyl Betaine.
Simply add it to the water phase of your formulation. It works well at room temperature, but you can apply gentle heat if needed to help dissolve other ingredients. For best performance and stability, your final product’s pH should be between 5.5 and 7.0. You can adjust pH at the end of your process with a pH adjuster like citric acid. This ingredient is compatible with most cosmetic ingredients, including conditioning polymers, botanical extracts, and common preservative systems.
