How to Use AccessMILD SCGT-D30 in Your Formulations
Understanding AccessMILD SCGT-D30
Think of a surfactant as the engine of your cleanser—it’s the ingredient that grabs onto dirt and oil so they can be washed away with water. However, not all engines are the same. Harsh surfactants, like sulfates (SLS/SLES), can be overly aggressive, stripping away the skin’s natural oils and leaving it feeling tight and dry. AccessMILD SCGT-D30 is different. It’s a high-performance surfactant derived from coconut oil and a natural amino acid (glutamic acid), making it one of the gentlest cleansers available.
Instead of big, airy bubbles, it creates a wonderfully rich, dense, and creamy foam that feels luxurious on the skin. This makes it perfect for products where a gentle touch is essential, like face washes and baby products. For the chemist, AccessMILD SCGT-D30 is an anionic surfactant that works by reducing the surface tension of water, allowing it to mix with oils and dirt for easy removal. Its amino acid structure makes it exceptionally compatible with the skin, helping to maintain the natural moisture barrier.
Formulation Tips
AccessMILD SCGT-D30 is supplied as a 30% active liquid, which makes it very easy to work with. Add it to the water phase of your formulation. A good starting usage rate is 5–15% for a secondary surfactant role (to boost foam and mildness) or 15–30% when used as a primary surfactant in a gentle cleanser.
This ingredient works beautifully as part of a synergistic surfactant blend. To enhance foam volume and stability, combine it with non-ionic surfactants (like Decyl Glucoside) or amphoteric surfactants (like Cocamidopropyl Betaine). Blending surfactants often results in a product that is even milder and higher-performing than using a single surfactant alone.
AccessMILD SCGT-D30 performs best in formulations with a final pH between 5.0 and 7.0, which aligns perfectly with the natural pH of the skin. Be sure to check and adjust the pH of your final product to fall within this range for optimal stability and performance.
