How to Use AccessMILD LG95 in Your Formulations
Understanding AccessMILD LG95
Most cleansers use ingredients called surfactants to grab onto oil and dirt so they can be washed away. However, many common surfactants, like sulfates (SLS/SLES), can be harsh and strip the natural oils from your skin and hair, leaving them feeling dry and tight. AccessMILD LG95 is different. It’s an anionic surfactant derived from natural sources: L-glutamic acid (an amino acid) and lauric acid (a fatty acid from coconut oil). This makes it incredibly gentle and biocompatible with the skin.
Think of it as a smart cleanser. It effectively removes dirt and excess oil but is mild enough to leave your skin’s protective barrier intact. For formulators, its key advantage is producing a wonderfully rich, dense, and creamy foam—not the big, airy bubbles you get from harsh detergents. This luxurious lather feels more moisturizing and provides a premium user experience that customers love, especially in products for sensitive skin, babies, or facial care. As a high-purity powder, it’s also an excellent choice for creating concentrated or water-free products like cleansing powders.
Formulation Tips
AccessMILD LG95 is versatile and can be used as either the primary or secondary surfactant in your formula. A typical usage rate is between 3–20%. For a gentle facial cleanser, use 5–10%. For a high-foaming shampoo, go up to 15–20%.
To incorporate it, add the powder to your water phase and stir. It may take some time to dissolve completely. You can gently heat the water to around 40–50°C (104–122°F) to speed up the process, but avoid boiling. This surfactant performs best in formulations with a final pH between 5.0 and 7.0, which is ideal for skin and hair care.
For even better performance, consider blending AccessMILD LG95 with other mild surfactants. Combining it with an amphoteric surfactant like Cocamidopropyl Betaine can boost foam volume and stability, creating an even more luxurious lather. Because it is so mild, it is an excellent choice for reducing the irritation potential of other, stronger surfactants in a blend.
