Understanding AccessMILD LG30
Most cleansers rely on ingredients called surfactants to wash away dirt and oil. AccessMILD LG30 is a gentle surfactant made from natural building blocks: glutamic acid (an amino acid) and lauric acid (a fatty acid from coconut or palm oil). It’s an excellent alternative to harsher sulfates like SLS or SLES. Think of it as a smart cleanser—it removes what you don’t want (dirt, makeup, excess oil) while respecting what you do (your skin’s natural protective oils). It produces a rich, creamy foam and leaves skin feeling soft and comfortable after rinsing, never tight or squeaky.
For the chemist, AccessMILD LG30 (INCI: Sodium Lauroyl Glutamate) is an anionic, amino acid–based surfactant prized for its mildness and skin affinity. It performs best at slightly acidic to neutral pH (about 4.5–6.5), aligning with skin’s natural pH and minimizing irritation potential. Outside this range (very low or very high pH), hydrolysis can occur, so maintaining the recommended pH window supports optimal stability, foam, and mildness.
Formulation Tips
Use AccessMILD LG30 as a primary surfactant at 10–25% for rich, creamy foam in facial cleansers, body washes, and shampoos. As a co-surfactant, use 1–10% to boost mildness and improve foam quality in existing systems.
Add AccessMILD LG30 to the water phase. It can be processed at room temperature; gentle warming (~40 °C / 104 °F) may speed dissolution, especially alongside solids. Target a finished pH of 4.5–6.5. It shows excellent compatibility with non-ionic and amphoteric surfactants (e.g., betaines) to enhance foam creaminess, mildness, and viscosity. Typical thickening approaches (salt/electrolyte, gums, and polymeric rheology modifiers) can be used as appropriate for your system.
