How to Use AccessMILD GC95 in Your Formulations

Understanding AccessMILD GC95

Surfactants are the primary cleaning ingredients in products like face washes, shampoos, and body washes. They work by attracting both oil and water, allowing them to lift dirt and grime from the skin and hair so it can be washed away. However, some common surfactants can be harsh, stripping natural oils and causing irritation. AccessMILD GC95 is different.

Based on the amino acid glycine, AccessMILD GC95 is an exceptionally gentle cleanser. Think of it as a smart cleanser: it effectively removes dirt and impurities while respecting the skin’s delicate moisture barrier. This is because its structure is similar to the natural building blocks of proteins in our skin. The result is a product that cleans thoroughly but leaves skin feeling soft, comfortable, and conditioned. It is particularly known for creating a dense, creamy, and resilient lather that feels luxurious and is stable throughout use.

For the chemist, AccessMILD GC95 is an anionic surfactant that performs best in formulations with a slightly acidic to neutral pH (typically 5.0–7.0), aligning with the skin’s natural pH. Its mildness and conditioning properties make it an excellent choice as a primary surfactant or as a co-surfactant to improve the feel and reduce the irritation potential of other cleansing systems.

Formulation Tips

AccessMILD GC95 is a versatile surfactant that can be used as the main cleanser in your formula or blended with other surfactants. As a primary surfactant, use between 10–25%. As a co-surfactant to boost foam and mildness, use 5–10%.

This ingredient is typically supplied as a powder or paste. To incorporate it, disperse it into the water phase of your formulation. Gently heat the water phase to around 40–50 °C (104–122 °F) to help it dissolve more quickly. Stir until the solution is uniform and free of particles before combining with other phases or adding other ingredients.

It is highly compatible with non-ionic and amphoteric surfactants and works well with common thickeners like natural gums or carbomers to build viscosity. Because of its gentle nature, it’s a fantastic choice for transparent gel cleansers, opaque cream washes, and pearlescent shampoos.

Frequently Asked Questions About AccessMILD GC95

It’s the primary cleansing ingredient. It creates the foam and lifts dirt, oil, and makeup from the skin and hair so it can be washed away—while remaining extremely gentle and leaving skin feeling soft.
Use 10–25% when it is the main surfactant in a gentle cleanser or baby wash. Use 5–10% as a co-surfactant to boost foam and mildness in existing systems.
It is considered naturally derived—made from coconut fatty acids and glycine (a naturally occurring amino acid)—and is readily biodegradable.
AccessMILD GC95 is significantly milder than SLS. It cleans effectively without the irritation and lipid stripping often associated with SLS, leaving a softer, conditioned after-feel.
Any rinse-off foaming product: high-end facial cleansers, gentle baby shampoos, sulfate-free shampoos, luxurious body washes, and foaming hand soaps.
You don’t have to, but warming the water phase to 40–50 °C (104–122 °F) speeds dissolution, especially when using powder form.
No. On its own it does not build significant viscosity. Use separate thickeners (e.g., Xanthan Gum, HEC, or carbomers) to achieve gel or cream textures.
