How to Use AccessMILD C-30 in Your Formulations
Understanding AccessMILD C-30
Think of a surfactant as the ingredient that does the actual cleaning in your shampoos and face washes. Its job is to grab onto oil and dirt so they can be rinsed away with water. AccessMILD C-30 is a special type of surfactant because it’s incredibly gentle on the skin and eyes. It is part of the sarcosinate family, which is derived from sarcosine, a natural amino acid. This makes it a fantastic choice when you want to create products that clean well but don’t cause dryness or irritation.
For the more technical formulator, AccessMILD C-30 (Sodium Cocoyl Sarcosinate) is an anionic surfactant that offers excellent foam-boosting properties and is a proven alternative to sulfates. It creates a uniquely creamy and dense foam structure, which consumers often associate with high-quality, conditioning products. Unlike the large, quick-breaking bubbles from some harsh surfactants, the lather from Sodium Cocoyl Sarcosinate is more stable and luxurious. It performs exceptionally well across a wide pH range (approximately 3–11), giving you incredible formulation flexibility.
Formulation Tips
AccessMILD C-30 is a versatile liquid surfactant that can be used in a few different ways. For a gentle boost in foam and mildness in an existing formula, use it as a co-surfactant at a rate of 2–5%. To create a primary cleansing system, especially for very mild products, it can be used at higher concentrations, typically from 10–20%.
To incorporate it, simply add AccessMILD C-30 to the water phase of your formulation. Since it’s a liquid, it’s easy to work with and doesn’t require heating to be dissolved. It works very well when blended with other mild surfactants, such as non-ionics (like glucosides) and amphoterics (like Cocamidopropyl Betaine), to create a well-rounded, high-performance, and gentle cleansing product. This ingredient is stable and effective in a wide variety of product formats, from thin liquid cleansers to thick, creamy shampoos.
