AccessMIDE CMP is a multi-functional ingredient that makes your shampoos and body washes feel thicker, richer, and more luxurious. Think of it as a “texture and foam expert” for your cleansing products. Its two main jobs are building viscosity (thickening) and stabilizing foam.

For beginners, “viscosity” is just a scientific word for thickness. AccessMIDE CMP helps turn a watery cleansing formula into a satisfying, rich gel or cream that feels high-quality and is easy to handle. It also works as a foam booster. While your main surfactants create the bubbles, this ingredient makes that foam denser, creamier, and longer-lasting, so it doesn’t disappear in a flash.

For chemists, AccessMIDE CMP (Cocamide MIPA) is a non-ionic surfactant that synergizes with anionic systems to build structure within the micellar network, efficiently increasing viscosity. This enables reduced or eliminated sodium chloride thickening where desired. It also enhances foam quality by producing a denser, more stable lather with a finer bubble structure.

Formulation Tips

AccessMIDE CMP is supplied as solid flakes and needs to be melted. Typical usage is 1–4%. Use the lower end for a gentle texture boost and the higher end for richer, thicker systems.

  1. Combine AccessMIDE CMP flakes with your primary surfactants (e.g., Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl Betaine) or with a small portion of the oil phase if present.
  2. Gently heat to about 60–65°C (140–149°F) until fully melted and clear.
  3. Heat your water phase separately to a similar temperature.
  4. Slowly add the melted surfactant phase into the water phase with moderate stirring. Avoid excessive aeration.
  5. Cool, then add preservative, fragrance, and other cool-down ingredients. Suitable pH range is approximately 5–8.
