How to Use AccessGEL HDXP in Your Formulations

What AccessGEL HDXP Does

Have you ever wanted to make a thick, luxurious face oil that doesn’t run through your fingers, or a crystal-clear lip gloss? That’s what an oil gelling agent like AccessGEL HDXP does. While ingredients like xanthan gum thicken water, AccessGEL HDXP (Dextrin Palmitate) works its magic on oils. It takes liquid oils, esters, and butters and transforms them into smooth, elegant gels.

Think of it as creating a microscopic net or sponge within your oil. The Dextrin Palmitate molecules arrange themselves into a network that traps the oil, preventing it from flowing freely. This not only thickens the oil but also dramatically improves its sensory profile, making heavy oils feel lighter and less greasy on the skin.

Beyond creating gels, AccessGEL HDXP is a fantastic stabilizer. In creams and lotions (specifically water-in-oil or silicone emulsions), it strengthens the oil phase, making the entire formula more resistant to heat and separation over time. It’s also an excellent suspension agent, keeping heavy particles like pigments, glitter, or zinc oxide evenly distributed throughout your product without settling.

Formulation Tips

Using AccessGEL HDXP is straightforward, but it requires heat. It will not work if you simply add it to oil at room temperature.

First, determine how much you need. For light thickening or emulsion stabilization, use 1–3%. To create soft gels like a cleansing oil, use 3–6%. For firm, solid-like gels (e.g., a clear balm stick), use up to 10%.

Process: Add AccessGEL HDXP powder to your oil phase. Heat the mixture to 80–90°C (176–194°F) with gentle stirring until the powder completely dissolves and the mixture turns clear. Once dissolved, proceed with your formulation—combine with a water phase for an emulsion or allow it to cool to form an oil gel. The gelling effect becomes apparent as the mixture cools to room temperature.

AccessGEL HDXP is versatile and works with a wide range of cosmetic oils, esters, and silicones.

Key Performance Benefits:

  • Creates Elegant Textures: Transforms thin, runny oils into luxurious, cushiony gels with a smooth, non-greasy skin feel.
  • Versatile Rheology Control: Offers precise viscosity control—from lightly thickened serums to firm, solid balms.
  • Enhances Emulsion Stability: Significantly improves the thermal stability of water-in-oil (W/O) and water-in-silicone (W/S) emulsions, preventing separation at high temperatures.
  • Excellent Suspension Properties: Effortlessly suspends pigments, glitters, and mineral UV filters for uniform distribution.
  • Naturally Derived & Sustainable: Made from renewable plant-based sources (dextrin from starch and palmitic acid from vegetable oils), ideal for clean formulations.
  • Crystal-Clear Gels: Forms transparent gels with many cosmetic oils and esters—perfect for high-shine lip gloss and clear oil serums.
