How to Use Access GLUCO 125 in Your Formulations
Understanding Access GLUCO 125
Access GLUCO 125 is a versatile, plant-derived ingredient that performs two key jobs in your formula: it’s a humectant and a conditioning agent. As a humectant, think of it as a moisture magnet—it draws water and helps bind it to the skin or hair for deep, lasting hydration, making it an effective partner or alternative to glycerin.
As a conditioning agent, it leaves skin and hair feeling soft and silky. For formulators: Access GLUCO 125 is a quaternary ammonium compound (“quat”). Its positive charge enables gentle bonding to the negatively charged surfaces of hair and skin—a property called substantivity—so the conditioning and moisturizing benefits last beyond rinse-off. Because it’s derived from glucose, it is exceptionally mild and well-suited for gentle yet high-performing formulations.
Formulation Tips
Recommended usage is 1–5%. Use 1–2% for daily lotions, light conditioners, or leave-in sprays, and 3–5% for deep conditioners or more intensive moisturizers.
Access GLUCO 125 is water-soluble; add it to the water phase. It can be incorporated cold-process, but gentle heating to ~40°C (104°F) speeds dissolution. It performs well in pH 4–7. It is compatible with non-ionic and other cationic ingredients. When formulating with strong anionic surfactants at higher concentrations, monitor for potential interactions. It is an excellent choice for sulfate-free systems and pairs well with mild cleansers.
Key Formulation Benefits:
