Technical Profile & Formulation Guide for Optique Pearl Blue
The Science of Iridescent Color
Optique Pearl Blue achieves its signature effect through the principles of light interference. The pigment is constructed from natural mica platelets coated with a precisely controlled layer of Titanium Dioxide. This coating separates white light into its component parts, causing select wavelengths to be reflected (blue) and others to be transmitted. The result is a luminous, iridescent blue sheen.
While the loose powder appears white, it reflects blue light when applied, creating an opalescent, color-transforming finish that elevates both subtle and bold cosmetic looks.
Formulation Benefits of Natural Mica
As a natural mica-based pigment, Optique Pearl Blue offers excellent performance for formulators. Its platelet structure provides a smooth, silky feel on the skin and enhances adhesion in pressed powders. The 10–60 μm particle size is optimized to deliver a refined pearlescent effect that is lustrous but not glittery, making it highly versatile across product categories.
It disperses readily in both anhydrous and emulsion systems, enabling consistent, even payoff in eyeshadows, lip products, complexion formulas, and nail lacquers.
