Technical Profile: Formulating with Mosaic Pale Blue
Achieving Subtle Blue Interference Shimmer
Mosaic Pale Blue is an interference pigment featuring a natural mica substrate (20–90 μm) coated with titanium dioxide. While the powder appears white, it produces a cool, icy blue shimmer when applied to skin through the optical interference of light passing through the TiO2 coating layers.
Formulation Considerations
Interference pigments like Mosaic Pale Blue are valued for adding subtle, dimensional color without heavy opacity. The larger particle size creates a more visible interference effect. It works well layered over other colors in eyeshadows, as a dimensional highlighter, or as a special effect in lip and nail formulations.
