Technical Profile & Formulation Guide for Glamour Classic B/G
The Science of Sparkling Glass Pigments
Glamour Classic B/G utilizes a Calcium Aluminum Borosilicate (borosilicate glass) substrate that functions like microscopic mirrors to deliver superior brilliance and a cleaner, more vibrant sparkle than conventional mica-based pigments. This transparent glass base is coated with Titanium Dioxide and Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), creating the pigment’s signature bluish-green luster and dynamic, eye-catching effects.
Formulation Best Practices
Engineered for high-impact sparkle rather than opacity, the large particle size (20–100 µm) produces a dazzling, dimensional finish. Due to the presence of Ferric Ferrocyanide, avoid alkaline (high pH) systems where the colorant can become unstable. This pigment is not suitable for lip applications due to regulatory restrictions on CI 77510.
For liquid and gel systems, incorporate appropriate suspension/rheology strategies to prevent settling. In pressed powders, the smooth borosilicate platelets contribute to excellent payoff and a more comfortable, non-gritty feel.
Key Formulation Benefits
- Intense Sparkling Effect: The large particle glass substrate delivers a high-impact, glittering finish that stands out in any formula.
- Vibrant Bluish-Green Luster: A precise blend of coatings produces a striking blue-green tone with professional, show-stopping sparkle.
- Smooth Application Feel: Despite its size, the borosilicate base is exceptionally smooth for a comfortable, non-gritty sensory experience.
- Versatile Use: Ideal for anhydrous and solvent-based systems where bold visual impact is desired, including eyeshadows, nail lacquers, and body glitters.
