Fantasy Halo achieves its distinctive holographic-type iridescent effect through a Titanium Dioxide and Tin Oxide coating on calcium sodium borosilicate glass flakes. The borosilicate substrate provides exceptional optical clarity, allowing light to pass through the flake and interact with the thin-film interference coating on both surfaces. This creates a rainbow-like iridescent flash that shifts through spectral colors as the viewing angle changes.
The 100–1000 μm particle range places Fantasy Halo firmly in chunky glitter territory. These large, flat flakes maximize the surface area for light interaction, producing dramatic, visible sparkle points with a halo-like ethereal quality. The transparent base means the pigment takes on the color of the product it is formulated into while adding its distinctive iridescent sparkle on top.
Formulating with Large Borosilicate Particles
Large borosilicate flakes require different formulation approaches compared to fine mica pigments. In pressed applications, Fantasy Halo works best as a topper shade or mixed with fine binder pigments that provide cohesion around the large particles. The Acrylates Copolymer encapsulation helps improve adhesion and reduces fallout.
