Performance & Formulation Insights
How It Works: Vitamin A actives like Retinol are highly sensitive to UV, heat, and oxidation, and also present penetration and irritation challenges in raw form. RET 4.5 addresses this with a 3-step encapsulation process: Retinol is first encapsulated within Layered Double Hydroxide (LDH); a second liposome process then forms Multi-Lamellar Vesicles (MLV) that mimic native skin lipid structures; finally, the two encapsulation systems are combined for enhanced protection and delivery.
Formulation Guidelines
Dose based on the 4.5% Retinol concentration of the complex to reach your target finished-product Retinol percentage. Incorporate into the water phase; because the active is pre-encapsulated, avoid excessive heat or high-shear processing. Standard Vitamin A precautions (opaque/airless packaging, antioxidant co-actives) remain good practice even with encapsulation.
Key Formulation Benefits:
- Enhanced Stability: 95% Retinol survival after 1 month, 85% after 3 months, under controlled conditions.
- Enhanced Skin Penetration: +60% enhanced skin penetration versus unencapsulated Retinol.
- Controlled, Skin-Mimetic Delivery: MLV structures mimic native skin lipids for controlled release and improved tolerability.
