Performance & Formulation Insights for AccessCARE PPN
How Papain Delivers Enzymatic Exfoliation
AccessCARE PPN harnesses the power of papain, a cysteine protease enzyme that functions as a highly effective and gentle exfoliant. Unlike physical exfoliants that manually scrub away cells or alpha-hydroxy acids (AHAs) that dissolve cellular bonds, papain works through proteolysis. It specifically targets and breaks down the keratin protein within the stratum corneum, effectively digesting the “glue” that holds dead, dull skin cells to the surface. This targeted action allows removal of the outermost layer of dead cells without irritating the healthy, living tissue underneath, resulting in a smoother, brighter complexion and improved skin texture.
Formulation Guidelines for Optimal Performance
AccessCARE PPN is supplied as a water-soluble powder, making it easy to incorporate into the aqueous phase of emulsions, gels, and serums, or used directly in powder-based products. To ensure maximum enzymatic activity, maintain the formulation temperature below 65°C (149°F) during and after incorporation. The optimal pH for papain activity is between 5.0 and 7.0, aligning with skin-friendly formulations. Usage rates typically range from 1.0% for gentle daily applications like cleansers to 5.0% for more intensive weekly treatments such as masks and peels.
