Performance & Formulation Insights for AccessCARE FA
How Ferulic Acid Works
Ferulic Acid is a phenolic antioxidant that excels at neutralizing a wide spectrum of reactive species, including superoxide, hydroxyl radical, and nitric oxide—key contributors to oxidative stress and photoaging. It terminates free-radical chain reactions and absorbs UV radiation to help prevent downstream cellular damage. Ferulic Acid also inhibits tyrosinase, directly helping to lighten dark spots and prevent hyperpigmentation. Most notably, it shows strong synergy with Vitamins C and E, enhancing their stability and significantly boosting their photoprotective and antioxidant performance.
Formulation Guidelines
AccessCARE FA is a crystalline powder with specific solubility needs: it is poorly soluble in water and oils but dissolves readily in solvents such as ethoxydiglycol, propanediol, propylene glycol, and ethanol. Create a premix by dissolving the powder into your chosen solvent with gentle heating (about 40–50 °C) until fully dissolved, then add this solution to the appropriate phase of your formulation. For optimal stability and efficacy, maintain a final pH of 3.0–4.0; above this range, Ferulic Acid rapidly loses antioxidant capacity. Typical usage is 0.5–1.0%.
